Description: One painting, oil on canvas, depicting a profile portrait of a distinguished gentleman with dark hair, beard and moustache, wearing traditional period costuming including a ruff, housed in a decorative gilt wood frame with black trim and an oval window
Medium: Oil on canvas
33 1/2 in. x 29 in., unframed; 37 1/2 in. x 33 in., framed
Markings: Inscriptions located on the obverse and verso of the painting
Mid 19th Century
Additional Information: The Latin inscription on the front of the painting reads "Aetatis Sua 55." A similar inscription is found on a painting located at The National Gallery of Art, London. There is also a faded inscription on the verso that possibly provides information on the sitter.
