13. Continental (European, mid 19th Century) 19th century profile portrait of a distinguished gentleman with dark hair, beard and moustache, wearing traditional period costuming including a ruff. An inscription in Latin on the front of the painting reads " Aetatis Sua 55". A similar inscription is found on a painting located at the National Gallery of Art, London. A faint inscription verso, also provides information about the sitter. This painting is framed in a gorgeous gold and black frame with an oval window. Medium: Oil on canvas. Framed Size: 33 inches x 37 1/2 inches.
